The Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) is situated in Gazipur District, approximately 40 km (25 mi) north of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is about 20 km (12 mi) away from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Gazipur is well-connected by roads and railways with Dhaka and other major cities of Bangladesh.

University of Barishal is situated in the district of Barishal under Barishal Division. It is located at Karnakathi on the eastern bank of the Kirtonkhola river beside the Barishal-Patuakhali highway about 2 kilometers from the center of Barishal City. The university campus is spread over 50 acres of land.
The university provides about 10 to 12 crore taka as scholarship in every year, one of the highest amongst the private universities of Bangladesh. [6] Nawab Bahadur Sir Khwaja Salimullah, who pioneered the university in Dhaka, donated 600 acres of land from his estate for this purpose.
The permanent campus of the university has been built on 5-bighas (1.676 acres) of land at Tejgaon Industrial Area which is located in the heart of Dhaka City. [7]The 10-storied building including 2-level basement has a total floor area of more than 4 lac sq.ft.

After a university student, Abrar Fahad was beaten to death by the BUET Chhatra League, the vice-chancellor of the university, Saiful Islam, banned all kinds of student politics and political organizations and their activities in the campus. According to the university ordinance, teacher politics has also been banned on the campus.
