  2. Is cnet.downloads safe - Tom's Guide Forum

    forums.tomsguide.com/threads/is-cnet-downloads-safe.405717

CNet has been known to inject their own add-ons into the downloads they host, never mind all the misleading banners they're so happy to display. I do believe I said "has always been fine for me"... because I do actually read through the installer and make sure to not select additional downloads.

  3. CPU temp and fan control utilities contain viruses?? - Tom's...

CNET now installs crapware unless you go the the publisher's site and they send you to CNET. If it's got no crapware the page says, for example. "Welcome Advanced Systems Care Users", if IOBIT sends you to the ASC download page at CNET. If you go straight to CNET for Advanced Systems Care you get the doucheware. Malwarebytes takes it out though.

After downloading the Advanced Systemcare 10 setup app I did scan it for viruses with my Kaspersky 2017. - KIS2017 did not report any malware.

    forums.tomsguide.com/threads/is-softlay-dot-net-legit-for...

Suibscribing to MSDN (>500 USD per year) kinda defeates the point of using the free download site, and it doesn't answer my original question. Thanks for the reply anyway. 11. Know a good tool for finding duplicate files? | Tom's Guide Forum

    forums.tomsguide.com/threads/know-a-good-tool-for-finding...

I have used the Duplicate File Cleaner and it is a very good software to do this job. Is easy to use and quite accurate, although I will advice you to manually go through the results once, because Once I simply deleted all files which the software had marked as duplicate and unfortunately some important files were also deleted and as a result a few programs had to be reinstalled.
