I am planning on commissioning army from VMI and I was wondering how hard it is to branch in something like Finance corps. I am not too interested on branching combat arms or something like transportation, but it’d be interesting to know how competitive all of the possible career options are. Any useful information is greatly appreciated.
Many of those who do get non-combat arms branches are required to serve a first tour in Infantry, Armor, Field Artillery, or Chemical. This is called "Branch Detail". Go in with the expectation that Infantry, Armor, and Field Artillery might be acceptable branches to serve in after graduation, or think very carefully about choosing West Point ...
Oct 30, 2012. #3. kinnem, those slides describe Branching, but not Branch Detail, which is a completely separate process. Branch Detailiing is where the cadet's assigned Branch (e.g. Military Intelligence) loans the newly minted 2LT to one of the MFE Branches for Basic Officer Training and then first duty: (Infantry, Armor, Chemical, or Field ...
Officers have branches rather then MOSs. The most competitive will be: Aviation Infantry Military Intelligence Armor Engineering The branches that don't fill as fast would be: Transportation Chem Corps Quartermaster Signal Corps The other seven fall in the middle.
Member. I'm currently a Firstie at USMA, and am closing in on the day in which I must input my branch preferences. Among the factors I am weighing is how the branch will set me up for civilian success. If you're high enough on the OML list and there is a slot available in the branch you desire, then as far as I know it's yours.
May 21, 2023. #7. jl123 said: It is a very complicated system, but the simplified overview of how it works: Cadet ranks every branch in order of preference. Each branch rates Cadet as one of three categories - Most Preferred, Preferred, Least Preferred. Branching uses those inputs, class rank, and whether or not Cadet is willingness to BRADSO ...
Deciphering the nuances of army branches seems to be giving MBA admissions a lot of credit. The earlier responses about selection bias make sense to me. If you do well in your branch and your GMATs and have strong recommendations, I would think you'd be well-positioned for a top 7 school.
The Army, Navy, and Marines are all brothers in a family. Army is the oldest... Mom and Dad made all their parenting mistakes with him. The Navy is the middle son. They are explorers who left home and no one cared. The Marines are the youngest. Mom and Dad let them do whatever they wanted and they still have an inferiority complex due to their ...
