Michael Keaton said: I'm pleased to see SlingTV as an option with TiVo's new streaming device, but I'm disappointed to see that it isn't available to all TiVo devices. For some, the smaller package available with Sling is worth the smaller price. Use SlingTV as the "source" for programming, and use your TiVo to record, schedule, fast forward ...
Since Sling TV has no live streaming it's unlikely. I would think.low priority, with the SlingTv being compatible with fire tv and fire tv stick, Chromecast coming I ask why. {DirecTiVo} HNS SD-DVR40 {retired} / HNS SD-DVR80 {retired} TiVo Premiere {lifetime} WD1TB+w/slide remote (original) / TiVo Premiere {lifetime} WD1TB / TiVo Roamio OTA 3TB ...
While I was looking for some answers online, I came across someone in the same boat as me from a Facebook Group comment (TiVo Stream 4k Community). He noticed that he could not add Sling TV to the TiVo Stream guide or link his Sling account to his TiVo account. TiVo responded: "Sling TV integration in the TiVo Stream app is no longer available.
If you want to go with Sling, then a combo of the AirTV Mini + AirTV 2 + USB hard drive + OTA antenna is probably your best bet for an integrated UI/UX. (Or instead of the $99 Air TV 2, with 2 OTA tuners, you could go with the $199 Air TV Anywhere which has 4 tuners and includes the hard drive.
Each of them has their strengths and weaknesses. Be aware that Sling TV typically does not offer local stations carrying ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, etc. while the other ones I listed do. Also be aware that YouTube TV doesn't presently have a dedicated Roku app, so you have to access that service through a menu listing in the regular YouTube app on Roku.
Sling’s new offering seems to open a new window of opportunity. They have an app that will work with AirTV to show local channels along with their OTT channels. SiliconDust’s HDHomeRun makes content available to any app that wants to use it, but Sling would have to implement it (per SiliconDust’s forum). I’ve contacted Sling through their chat and put in my request for the feature. If ...
Sling is a streaming service, that allows you to use AirTV to add (adapter purchase required) OTA and other streaming services. (EXTREMELY simplified) - Plex is a content you already have locally in your house service, that allows you to buy your own (but must be supported by Plex) OTA/Cable tuner to add DVR/LIVE TV capability.
Sling / m3u / TV Everywhere. I’ve tried to find an answer but what with all the legacy information still published it’s like walking a maze of dead-ends. I currently use Channels DVR, and while the TV Everywhere function works great the app itself is abysmal. So I went looking and found all this convoluted crap with plugins and m3u etc etc ...
All the news about Plex these days is about integrating with web based programming. News. Tidal. Podcasts. Next should be the live TV providers. I personally use Sling TV, but of course there are others. If I could have my Sling TV channels in the same guide as my OTA channels from my HDHomeRun, I would basically launch Plex when I turn on my TV and never leave.
The adapter connects to your home TV antenna and your router. You can then watch local channels thru the Sling app on your TV Stream 4k. Even if you later stop paying for sling, you keep the adapter, and the locals will still work in the sling app. The network adapter is called 'AIR TV 2'. Watch Local Channels Online | Sling TV.
