Menards isn't that bad and definitely has its "what the fuck" moments, but I think it's safe to say anywhere you work has those moments. Your location and department can be huge factors in whether you like it or not.
Done with Menards. Never particularly liked the store to begin with, but they are about 7 miles closer to me than Home Depot, so it saved about 15 minutes on an already long trip for things. Now you can do your own research on why Menards sucks, everything from the owner being a douche (making personal visits to stores and firing anyone who ...
A pro about Menards is the amount of positions and flexibility of scheduling. There are positions and opportunities all throughout Menards, for example, if you want full time and like dealing with setup more so than guests, there is the Plan-O-Gram team.
Pros: ︎Good pay for retail standards (I make $15.20/hr as a part-timer) ︎Good flexibility in most cases (DMs (department managers) are usually good at accepting your requested unpaid days off for stuff like doctors appointments, etc.

As a customer, I greatly prefer Menards for building materials - I love driving my truck right onto the yard. Lowes for appliances and lighting. Home Depot for flooring. Menards for everything else (plus it’s the closest). Harbor Freight is my first stop for most tools.
What’s keeping you at menards? I’ve only been for 7 months working my measly 15-20 week while I’m in school, yet I only 25% of the plumbing department. On the other, my coworkers have been here for 5 years+ and are geniuses when it comes to a guest needing help.
I want to go into ARCA but the prices and the work involved are making it seem impossible. First of all, I'm from an extremely middle class family. We can go out to lunch a few times a month, afford more than enough groceries, three functioning vehicles and a great but not big house.
If you like to move around though and always be doing something physical, then Order Pickup and Delivery (OPD) or Receiving would be good. Receiving has little customer exchange, where OPD is more customer focused. In regards to position, you can move up in Menards pretty easily tbh.
