Finding Starbucks gift card balance without scratching off silver security code covering I have a brand new gift card, and I'd like to know the amount before I give it to a friend. Scratched it too hard and the paint or whatever rubbed off with the number and its unreadable. You don't need to have the security code to spend it in store, only when adding it to your mobile app I believe. You can transfer the funds into a new card in store if you want. You can go in store and have them transfer the balance to another card.
If I remember correctly, it cannot be added to your app, the card must be used in person. Technically, you already received stars for your previous order and then got the $4 card, so if you were allowed to add it to the app then you would be able to double up. Not saying that is anyone’s intentions, just explaining the possible reasoning. Reply.
