Origin. In 1767, the first post office was established in Manila, which was later organized as a postal district of Spain, encompassing Manila and the Philippine archipelago, in 1779. The postal district was reestablished on December 5, 1837. Manila became known as a leading center of postal services within Asia.
Girl Guides Australia celebrated 100 years of Guiding across Australia from September 2009 to February 2011. The Australian Centenary Event (ACE) was held 3–9 January 2010 just outside Melbourne, Victoria. It was an international camp for 2500 girls, with another 500-700 leaders attending. Pippa Penguin was the mascot for ACE.
In the aftermath of the People Power Revolution, the name Kapatirang Scout ng Pilipinas was abandoned, and the organization reverted to its original name "Boy Scouts of the Philippines", under its first lady Chief Scout, then President Corazon Aquino. In 1990–91, a program was created for pre-school boys and named KID Scouting.
