ADMIN MOD. Filing for unemployment + problems with VEC website. I had a frustrating experience filing for unemployment with the Virginia Employment Commission website. I tried to register, but my SSN was already registered in the system so next I tried to reset my login for the site, but got stuck trying to validate the security question.
The VEC has stated that no one will be flagged for either answer, and VEC employees are recommending claimants just answer yes regardless of whether it applies, to avoid have to explain later in the form. If you call the automated line at 1-800-897-5630 and file there, it won't ask this question at all.

I exhausted my benefits in August and applied for PEUC benefits. My last name is O’Brien and because there wasn’t a capitol B on the PEUC application and my last name appears different from my UI application they didn’t even transfer it over to the VEC for processing yet.
