Abies procera, the noble fir, also called red fir and Christmas tree, [3] is a species of fir native to the Cascade Range and Pacific Coast Ranges of the northwestern Pacific Coast of the United States. It occurs at altitudes of 300–1,500 meters (980–4,920 ft).
The species has ornamental value in large parks and gardens. [43] It has been commonly used as a Christmas tree since the 1920s, and the trees are typically grown on plantations. [44] The buds have been used to flavor eau de vie, a clear, colorless fruit brandy. [45] Douglas-fir pine leaves can be used to make pine needle tea. [46]
