Frontier Communications<silverstreak@frontiernet.net> Just got this message that says I have to update my Yahoo mail to 7.1 There is a link there but I haven't clicked on it. Is this a legitimate message of a scam type. It doesn't give a time limit or date, but make it sound urgent. Haven't had any problems with mail up to now. Lynn
Autocomplete does not complete email addresses in Frontier/Yahoo (PC) but it does work in Chromebook which doesn't use Firefox; A RED Firefox screen, asking me to download a program, pops up when I am on Frontier's "Yahoo" home page. To our knowledge, fake update notices are a form of "malvertising". Those fake notices get triggered by code contained in ads that are displayed on otherwise legitimate websites you are visiting and get spread through advertisement networks. Cox.net is transitioning from in-house e-mail to e-mail handled by Yahoo.com. Our cox.net addresses are supposed to (and apparently have) transitioned so that they still work, but are processed through pop.mail.yahoo.com.

I downloaded the latest version of Firefox for PC (Windows 10) and the window in the attached image opened. I know it's a scam and I don't want to follow the instructions. But everytime I open Firefox, this opens up in a new window. And it won't let me close it! It's more annoying than anything else.

I have the same problem with GMX mail. It has worked great for years but the problem started with the last major update. I have 3 POP email accounts, two are Yahoo and one GMX. The Yahoo accounts work OK. The GMX account will send email but when I hit Get Messages, it only checks and receives messages from the Yahoo accounts.
