I have been living in Japan for a little over a year now, but I will be moving back to America within the next few months and I'm not too sure when it is I'll be back. Hopefully sooner than later, but that's besides the point. I started FF14 in Japan with a JP SE account, and I'm aware how time cards work regionally, so my question is this:
WoW is much easier to level through and you'll hit that end game faster. ff14 takes much longer to level in and has a better/friendlier playerbase and a more broad, casual scope of things to do at max level besides just endgame. Pick which experience you want and check it out. You can't really go wrong either way.

Free trial is totally unlimited on time, but does have a few gameplay restrictions. Both will cap you at lvl60, both let you play up to the end of the first expansion. If you can live with the restrictions, the free trial is the way to go. Either way, when you do buy the game, you'll get 30 days gametime with it. 1.
Farm: The party is clearing the duty over and over for loot and/or tokens. Fresh: The party is entering the duty for the very first time. Some knowledge of mechanics may be expected. E.g. “Fresh, watch vid pls” indicates that the party leader expects all members to have watched/read a guide on the fight.
